Ana Bárbara was born on January 10, 1971, in Rio Verde, Mexico. She took an interest in music at an early age. Her older sister Viviana Ugalde became a popular local singer. Ana decided that she wanted wanted to be a singer also. Then at age 17, the young latina entered the Miss Mexico pageant. She did not win, but beautiful Bárbara used this exposure to start her new career. She began performing at various events and festivals. In 1990, she toured
Colombia.
Her success grew slowly but steadily. In 1993, Ana was proclaimed the "Ambassador of Ranchera Music". She was invited to perform at the Vatican for Pope John Paul II. The next year, the talented latina made her first album. Everyone loved her smooth voice. Barbara released her second album the following year. She had several hit songs and became a star. Ana was "La Reina Grupera".
Her fame spread. She made a third album in 1996.

and good looks attracted a great following during tours around the world. In 1998, Ana released a fourth CD that was produced with the help of Marco Antonio Solis. It was mostly ballads. The next year, she released a fifth CD with some of her own
songs.
She also starred in the film Todo Contigo for Univision. The theme song for the movie was included on her album.
After a short break to have her first child, she released a new CD in 2001. It was also a change from her usual sound, done in mariachi style. Bárbara started touring again.
Ana soon became one of Mexico's most famous celebrities. She helped produce her next two albums and had several popular songs. In 2005, she participated in a concert held in honor of Selena in Houston, Texas. This TV special was produced by Univision and was the most watched Spanish-language special in US history.
Soon after, Ana began a scandalous romance with Jose Maria Fernandez, known as "Pirru". They started dating only about three months after his wife’s death. Both were criticized for this, but they were married a short time later.
In 2006, the popular singer released her ninth CD No Es Brujería. The title song did well, but promotion stopped because Ana was pregnant. Later that year, Barbara moved to Cancun where she now lives. During her time off from music, she opened a restaurant called "Chocalate City" in Cancun. Last year, she and her brothers also opened a nightclub there.
The talented singer has received a lot of awards and recognition. During her career, Ana has been nominated for four
Latin Grammy Awards
and one traditional Grammy. This year, she was featured again in Los 50 Mas Bellos of People en Español along with beautiful
Eva Longoria
and other beautiful latinas.
