Language no es gramatica, it is the ability to communicate with people. For many people, the ability to speak more than one lengua is a gift that is taken for granted. A bilingual person should not be someone who is ignorant in two languages. Think of it as an opportunity to express your thoughts and feelings in twice as many ways.
English is very complicated because it has evolved over thousands of years. It is a muy desorganizado mess of words and phrases without many rules. It is not logical and it changes all the time, so it is really difficult to just memorize all of it. A better way is to learn as many different words as you can and start using them. Do not worry about pronunciation. Concentrate on listening and communication.
Of course,
really learning a language is a never-ending thing.
Even if you have been speaking Spanish or English your entire life, there is always more to learn. It helps if you read something every day, whether it is a book, a magazine, periodico, or the internet. And there are many web sites to help you with translation.
The best thing about English is that it goes beyond national boundaries. It is not just used in England or the United States. You can use it all over the world. And it changes every day to incorporate new words, slang, music, movies, business, and culture from every country. Watch television, listen to the radio, and you will learn new things every day.
Spanish is much more logical but it also changes. It is not the native tongue of Mexico. It was borrowed from Spain and then grew around the world.
Today, it is used in many different countries and cultures. And like English, it changes with the times. Practice listening to all the people around you. Not only do you learn new ways of saying things, you can also pick up a lot of good gossip.
So expand your mind and use your skills to express yourself. Be creative. Start thinking in “Spanglish” so that you don’t limit yourself. And practice saying things every day in new and different ways. Learn new words. If you can’t think of a word, make one up!!
