Paulina Rubio is the Golden Girl[Español]
Paulina Rubio Dosamantes was born on June 17, 1971, in Mexico City. Her mother is the well-known actress Susana Dosamantes. So as a child, she received a lot of training in dance, singing, acting, and other arts. When only ten years old, the talented young latina joined the popular singing group Timbiriche. This made her famous all over Mexico. Thalia was also later a member of this same group.
This opened many new doors. The beautiful latina soon began a new acting career. Rubio appeared in several novelas like Pasion y Poder and Baila Conmigo. Her reputation as a rising star continued to grow fast. After a few years of success, Paulina moved to Spain and started her career as a solo artist. Her first album was called La Chica Dorada and “The Golden Girl” became her new name. The album was very popular in many countries. 
Her next three albums had even more success and produced many hit songs. Paulina also starred in the Mexican movie Besame En La Boca and included the theme song in her music. She continued starring in various novelas as well as singing. Some of her songs were recorded in English and helped to broaden her international appeal. After four years of resting, Paulina returned to star in a Spanish television show that featured her acting and singing skills. Her records sold millions of copies and won many awards. Loyal fans in Houston, Texas, even declared an official “Paulina Day” to honor the latina sensation. 
In 2005, Paulina hosted the MTV Latin America Awards and was named the Star of the Year by People En Español. Rubio appeared on many television shows and on stage with other music stars like Enrique Iglesias and Shakira. Her music is a very interesting combination of popular styles and changes over time. Her voice and performing style are very similar to Madonna except with a latin flavor. In October 2007, Paulina appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan in Spain. In the photo, Rubio is nude behind a colorful sheet that looks like a Mexican flag. This picture created a lot of controversy but only added more spark to her reputation. I am sure that this dynamic and sexy latina will be the center of attention for many years to come.
