Ariadna Thalia Sodi Miranda was born August 26, 1971, in Mexico City. She was the youngest of five girls in a very wealthy family. Protected and pampered, she received the best education and artistic training. Her studies included science, languages, dance, and music, but Thalia wanted to be an actress. She first appeared on television as a child and began her professional singing career at age ten.

The talented latina joined the popular teen band Timbiriche in 1986 and she achieved immediate success. The following year, she landed her first big role as an actress in the novela Pobre Seniorita Limantour. Everyone loved her. Popularity and fame came easily
and grew quickly. After a few years, she decided to broaden her horizons and moved
to California.

At U.C.L.A., the young mexicana took more classes in English, music, dance, and acting. In 1990, she made her first solo album with a pop-rock style that many did not like. But the energetic star continued to work hard. She released a new album the next year and another the year after. The second one went gold and the third one platinum. Her acting career continued to grow as well. Thalia began starring in a series of “Maria” novelas that were very popular. People were calling the talented young actress La Reina de las Telenovelas.

Her dynamic combination
of acting and singing attracted attention from producers all over the world. Within a few years, the sexy latina had international recognition with the support
of influential people like Emilio Estefan. Her next three albums were very popular in many countries, especially in the Phillippines. She traveled there several times for tours and performances. She also recorded songs from her television shows and for the soundtrack
to the animated movie Anastasia.

Over the past ten years, the talented performer has produced a steady stream of excellent albums. While not achieving the success of Shakira, her music shows a variety of styles, and she is very popular in Mexico and many other countries. She has also accumulated numerous awards including seven times being selected for the 50 Mas Bello list of People en Español.

Ever since December of 2000, Thalia has been married to music executive Tommy Mottola and they have one daughter together. Both are active in many charity and humanitarian causes. She has also launched her own radio show, a fashion line, an eyewear collection, and beauty products company.
